Most of the Astro Bot cameo characters are pretty easy to identify, but there are a few VIP Bots who are obscure and thus can be difficult to place. The fact that Team Asobi’s games have the potential to become someone’s first game is something that Doucet takes seriously. “Team Asobi’s studio is just across the street from our building, so they were always the first to prototype with our hardware,” says Senior Principal Product Manager Toshi Aoki, product director for the DualSense controller.
In this Astro Bot guide, we have a full walkthrough of the game, pointing out where to find all the collectibles in every level. This includes the locations of all Bots, all Puzzle Pieces, and all Lost Galaxy Warp Portals. On top of that we have pages on cosmetic items like Outfits and Dual Speeder Skins, how to secure all the PS5 Trophies, and lots more. Originally announced during Sony’s June 2025 State of Play, the update adds a new galaxy, the Vicious Void, for players to explore. Four of the levels are titled Twin-Frog Trouble, Suck It Up, Handhold Havoc, High Inflation, with Team Asobi keeping the name of the fifth as a surprise. The addition of the new levels brings Astro Bot’s total level count to over 90.
Astro recovers the CPU, but when he and his crew defeat Nebulax by blowing up the spaceship he is attached to, it creates a black hole that begins to suck Nebulax in. Nebulax grabs Astro to try to take him down with him, but the crew take hold of Astro to try to pull him back. Refusing to let gg888 sacrifice themselves for him, Astro lets go of them and falls into the black hole, which explodes into a supernova. Simply put, Astro Bot is not just one of the best platformers I have ever played, it is a celebration of what makes both PlayStation and gaming at large great. The player can then take the bots collected back to a hub world of sorts known as the Crash Site. There they are given the chance to spend their hard-earned in-game currency on collectible set pieces for each of these gaming icons.

They can even jump on normal hazards to get where they need to go. Players only have a precious few seconds to make this power-up count, which can lead to some players getting creative with their puzzle solutions or the photos that they can take with the camera in Astro Bot. Stopping time in general is an ability that people would love to have in real life and no one would say otherwise. The Iron Suit is an impenetrable set of armor that will weigh players down with power. Its main functionality is to transform players into a tiny ball which is impervious to attacks be it rolling through spikes or getting pelted with lava.
Astro Bot: Five New Levels And Special Bots Begin Rolling Out Today
There isn’t anywhere else to spend Coin and you’ll always pay 100, no matter what. As long as you have more than that, you can buy from the machine. Plus, you’ll make a ton going to new and even older levels from exploring, destroying enemies, and collecting coins and old character and Puzzle Pieces. In tandem with expert level design are the game’s diverse and exciting mechanics.
Just like how Team Asobi did it for Astro’s Playroom, Astro Bot has a ton of PlayStation Easter Eggs. Besides the standard Bots, there are over 100 bots that are dressed up as past PlayStation characters. There are even soem dressed up as characters from third-party games, like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. All the VIP bots are well thought out, as each one has tongue-in-cheek descriptions and is all-around adorable. For example, the Joel Bot from The Last of Us is said to have a habit of “[telling] the occasional white lie,” in reference to his highly questionable personal choices. In contrast, think about all the enemies featured in the Super Mario series.
On the flip side, this leads to a nitpick regarding the enemies. Besides the bosses, none of the enemies have names or identities. This robs the enemies of the kind of simple but memorable personalities that even the most generic Bots have. Nebulas is the main antagonist of the series, a space bully who loves causing trouble for Astro and his friends. He’s a green-skinned alien with a massive mouth, always looking for ways to make life difficult for the crew. You’ll dash, swing, and rocket-punch through diverse areas like volcanoes and jungles, unlocking 15 new abilities, including using Barkster, the Bulldog Booster, to air-dash and smash enemies.
What Are All Special Bots In Astro Bot? Psycho Mantis – Psychic Menace
Alongside the new content, Team Asobi has also released a PlayStation 5 Pro patch for Astro Bot, “featuring a constant best resolution while still running at 60 frames per second.” So that’s nice. Astro Bot’s Digital Deluxe edition also has several exclusive items, including 10 more PSN avatars, a digital art gallery, and a digital soundtrack. It also lets you unlock Astro’s Yharnam Tourist outfit, Golden outfit, and two more Dual Speeder paint colors early (all the outfits and paint colors are available in the base game, too).
And of course, each comes with a new Special Bot to rescue, too. While the game doesn’t have separate graphics options, on PS5 Pro players will automatically get a “constant best resolution” at 60 fps. “No chance,” Doucet said when asked if Astro Bot could come to PSVR2. “It’s designed for a different medium. It would be a different game.” Though the explanation makes sense, this likely won’t be welcome news to purchasers of Sony’s headset who are already frustrated over a lack of big games. We listened to your comments and now, Astro is back in a super-sized space adventure, his biggest to date. The news that fans can expect more Astro Bot was met with praise, though some hoped it would not lead to a yearly release schedule.
Many Bots appear reenacting famous scenes and/or cosplaying characters from the many games throughout PlayStation history, and often appear near Bots that carry cameras and wear blue PlayStation hats. When the 1994 Throwback is unlocked in the CPU Plaza, Bots gather around the new portal in fear. While playing the levels, the player can find hidden chameleons, which unlock a further 26 challenge levels with two golden Bots to collect. Astro Bot is an action and platformer game for the PlayStation 5 which features Astro. Jump on your Dual Speeder and explore tons of planets, and meet up with iconic PlayStation characters across the game. Unlike our last update Winter Wonder, which was a walk through the Xmas park, this new update features harder levels to test your jumping skills.
The game puts a lot of this “spice,” but understands that too much will kill the dish. That said, Astro Bot has a lot more than just references, as some levels are solely focused on recreating and paying tribute to past PlayStation games. The final puzzle piece is just after you use the flower lever on the inside of the hourglass, which you reach after boosting up past the arrows stuck in the wall. Jump across the platforms until you reach a checkpoint and a glass floor covered in gold.
But it’s the temporary abilities that come with each level that make things truly exciting. The Twin Frog gloves are a particular favourite, with their sticky tongues flinging out to provide a grapple swing option. They’re also spring-loaded, meaning any incoming projectiles can be sent back from whence they came, exploding in an enemy’s face. I also very much enjoyed the mouse mechanic, which reduces you down to a super small size, effectively turning on a “Toy Story” mode that lets you clamber up oversized shelves and leaves in search of secrets. The Time Stopper combines a pair of VR goggles players can strap onto their hero and a literal watch on the back. When players stop time, they can halt attacks like buzz saws hurtling toward them.
All these power-ups combined with the varied level design make for a game that never runs short of ideas, and it’s brilliant. PS5 pack-in Astro’s Playroom was a taster dish, teasing players with a short but sweet experience; Astro Bot, then, is the full three-course meal. Once you’ve beaten all 10 of the Lost Galaxy levels (although it’s currently unclear if you also need to get the 100% completion gold flag on these levels as well), a present will appear in the middle of the nebula. Fly over and activate the present to enter the Final Encore level, which has five bots and two puzzle pieces — just like the rest of the Lost Galaxy levels. [newline]Team Asobi has announced that five new levels are coming to Astro Bot as weekly drops, starting on Feb. 13. (That’s today!) As with previous additions to the Game of the Year winner, the new levels are free to download — and, of course, each comes with a new Special Bot to rescue.
